Training Courses

Below is a list of “courses” to help learn the different modules of ZogoTech’s software.  Each “course” explores one or two scenarios using various capabilities in the system.  Each is designed to be less than 15 minutes.  For in-person training, please allow two to three times the amount of time listed below in the video.

Course Descriptions

101: Overview

Description:  A fast-paced overview of all modules of the software.  While this is not a training video per se, it does a good job of showing all aspects of the software.

Scenarios

  • Performance management through scorecards
  • Course completion by gender, ethnicity, by faculty
  • Course completion by course, over time
  • Showing detailed information about a specific student
  • Creating a contact note with a student
  • Identifying students who are high-performing, but dropped out
  • Intervening with groups of students

110: Advise a Student

Description:  Shows how to use the student engagement module to advise different types of students

Scenarios

  • Work with a student who is at high-risk
  • Work with a student who is close to graduating

Capabilities You Will Learn

  • Identify at-risk indicators for a student
  • Understand developmental education subject levels
  • Review information about a student: classes, test scores, financial aid
  • Use NSC data to see whether student transferred in from another institution
  • Review previous contacts with a student
  • Show contacts from other groups
  • Understand contact permissions
  • Create a contact with a student

120: Student Navigator in Detail

Description

An in-depth look at how to use the Student Navigator to identify groups of students

Pre-Requisites:  None

Scenarios

Identifying students who:

  • Are high-performing, but dropped out
  • Taking all classes at one location
  • Achieved 18 credits within 1 year of enrolling
  • Ever enrolled / received A, B in a gateway course

Capabilities You Will Learn

  • Basic filtering
  • Combining filters
  • Running reports on lists of students
  • Intervening with selected students (Sending all selected students an email)
  • Using “Not” to invert the filter
  • Exporting to Excel (using Format as Table for further manipulation)
  • Using Table Filters to create new filters not in the system

Description:  Shows how to use the contacts filter

Pre-Requisites:  120

Scenarios

Show students that had:

  • Contacts with advising group
  • Contacts with any group
  • Contacts since a between certain dates
  • At least 4 contacts
  • At most 2 contacts

Description:  Shows how to use Research Intelligence pivot tables

  • Headcount by instructional mode for a division

Description:  Shows how to use Research Intelligence pivot charts to display information graphically

Description:  Shows how to use Research Intelligence pivot tables in more depth

Scenarios

  • Why is the completion rate so much lower for Math courses than Biology, but the withdrawal rates are similar?
  • Class completion / withdrawal rates by age group
  • Grade distribution by department / course

Description:  Shows how to create Research Intelligence pivot tables from scratch (a template)

  • Number of credentials awarded by year
  • Number of credentials awarded by credential type (AA, AAS, etc)
  • % of credentials awarded by credential type
  • Top degree producing programs over the last 3 years

Description:  Shows how to create Research Intelligence pivot charts from scratch (a template)

Pre-Requisites:  131 (Recommended: 132)

Scenarios:  Top 10 degree producing programs over the last 3 years

250: Creating Dashboards

Description:  A quick look to how to assemble reports into a dashboard / tabbed interface

Pre-Requisites:  You need to have some Research Intelligence reports (tables / charts) created.  The videos on Working with Charts and Working with Tables are useful

Scenarios:  Create a dashboard showing Course Completion by Division, Course Utilization, Financial Aid, Enrollment  (shown in the Overview video) and sharing it with others

Capabilities You Will Learn

  • Create a new Dashboard
  • Adding Rows to a Dashboard
  • Adding in Research Intelligence tables / charts
  • Adding Tabs to a dashboard
  • Arranging the dashboard grid in different formats (2×2, 2×1)

301: Investigating Data Quality Discrepancies

Description:  Identifying data quality issues and using the Navigator and Student Information screen to track down specific problems

Pre-Requisites

  • Basic knowledge of the Research Intelligence Tables
  • Understanding of Navigator filters (including “Not”)

Scenarios:  Identifying students in ZogoTech that are not in a list of IDs and vice-versa

  • Importing student IDs from a text file
  • Looking for discrepancies between a list of students in ZogoTech and an imported list

330: Working with Different Data Sources

Description:   Shows how to change the data source of an Enteprise Report and create a new report

Pre-Requisites:  Basic knowledge of the Research Intelligence Tables
